I'm leaving on May 11, instead of the original May 09 flight. I haven't packed a single thing. Oh well, last time I had to, I was able to pack all my things in a matter of hours anyway. I just hope I won't forget anything.
Only 9 people, as of today, were chosen to take the Masteral in Industrial Economics this year. 6 Dean's Listers and 3 other people, myself included. I felt a little guilty because I've been chosen yet I've made up my mind not to take the Masteral Program anymore, to think that there are others dying to enter the said program. Whatever.
I've got a camera
. Yipee! :)
I still don't know what my grades are because the school website
is still down (!) so I have no way of checking my grades unless I go to school and ask the department secretary if she has a copy. I might as well do that if the website still isn't up by tomorrow. I'll be leaving in a little over 2 weeks from now, May 9 to be exact, if the situation would permit (ie, if all the grades are out and I was able to have my clearance signed). If not, then it could be moved to May 16. Anyway, I made a wishlist of the things that I want to receive as graduation gifts or going away presents, you take your pick. Even if you're(heartstoground
) not here, you can always send me a package to our house in Canada. ;)
- Oguri Shun (Haha, not too far fetched, I believe)
- Camera so I can take good photos (better than camera phone types) on my trip
- Gift Certificate from a store that sells watches so I can do the picking, preferably Techno Marine
- Indelible Gel liners in Peacock and/or Black Out which can be purchased online through this site
- Gift Certificate from Meow Cosmetics
- Havaianas Slims in Golden Sun and/or Silver Moon and/or Graphite, size 35-36
- Gift Certificate from a salon so I can do some pampering before I leave, samahan mo na din ako para fun :D
From the list, the ones that I badly want are numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6. Other than those, what I really want right now is some peace of mind. But I guess no one would be able to give me that. I've been having a lot of thoughts about break ups, and that sort of thing, lately. But that's something that I don't really feel like blogging about.
Let's go out before I leave. Texted Renee already but she hasn't replied yet. Question is, will I get to see her before I leave? She promised but I'm not so sure if that'll happen. Abangan nalang natin. Hehe. I haven't talked to Shau yet about the Canada thing but I really really hope that she'll move there. It'll be really lonely especially if the break up idea wins out.
- I'm itching to post my graduation-slash-going-away wishlist but grades aren't out yet and it wouldn't be a graduation wishlist if I'm not yet sure that I'd be able to graduate. They were supposed to be posted last Tuesday pa
but every time I check over the net, a pop up window appears saying, "No existing record". I'm already sure that I passed Econometrics because 2 of my classmates, who were able to see the grades personally, told me that I did. Whew! 1 down, 5 to go! I just wish that I pass all of my subjects. I don't want to spend another year dwelling on Economics. I badly want to take up another course, a Science course to be specific. Layo sa
- The documents that I have to submit to be able to get a travel document so I can go back was picked up by the courier yesterday. Apparently, the embassy
changed their rules and submitting documents personally is already a big no-no.
I lost my Permanent Resident Card that's why I have to go through all this pa
. I paid around P2,500 for the travel document, which, I think, is too much. But, yeah, we're talking about the embassy here so it was kind of expected. I was told that I'd be able to get the document in 10 working days if I was able to submit everything. Truth be told, I wasn't able to. They were asking for a police report since I lost my card and I don't know if it pertains to a police report produced during the day when it was lost (there's none) or a police report that was made 10-months (April, the loss occurred last June 2007) after the incident. I ended up jut giving them a notarized Affidavit of Loss. I hope that's enough.
I already have ghost carts with Meow
and Lure Beauty
. I'm planning to order some stuff before I leave, IF I have the money, so that the packages would already be there when I arrive.
- I'm watching PBB Teen Edition Plus
right now. Haha. I want to have the 24/7 live stream so that I'd be able to know first hand what's going on inside the house. LOL. I told the boyfriend to get me the 24/7 and he was like "What?" and that was the end of it. It's only $15 (around $16CAD?)! That's just an hour's pay. Maybe he thought that I wasn't serious because I'm not the type who would watch shows like that. If he only knew. Click, anyone? Haha. Brings back high school memories. :D First round of eviction will be held tonight. I wonder who it'll be.
- There's rice shortage in the Philippines right now, which was kind of surprising for a lot of people since many believe that we're an agriculture-based society. We're not, actually. Around 50% of our exports are composed of Electronics! Yeah, kind of hard to believe at first because we were always taught that the Philippines is almost equivalent to the word agriculture. Saw in the news that a lot of people are lining up to get a hold of a brand of rice called the "NFA rice", which is a lot cheaper (by P10/kilo) than the other brands available. Even in our local market, our maid said that there's always a long queue in stores where NFA rice is available. She said that store owners even had to mark the buyer (some what like the marks placed on voters during elections) to make sure that he/she wouldn't go back and purchase rice that same day! Each person/family is only allowed to buy 2 kilos, I think, of NFA rice per day. Is the shortage really that bad?
- I'm bored. I hope the girls would be able to go out soon since it was Sam's birthday last Wednesday (Cari and Bene haven't even treated us yet and their birthdays were more than a month ago!). I also have to talk to Shau about her departure date so that she'd be able to bring my diploma, transcripts, and yearbook pictures along with her when she leaves.
Finally, I got my Everyday Minerals loot
last Wednesday. I placed my order last February 17 and it was shipped February 19. It took almost 6 weeks to get here! Even though the wait was quite long, I'm still happy because, hey, I still got my package
and it didn't get lost after all. I only got 5 items (1 angled blush brush, 1 flat top brush, 1 sunlight concealer, 1 smokey e/l, 1 good china e/s, and 1 oasis e/s) out of the 20+ that I ordered because when I placed the order, I thought that my undertone is neutral when I'm really warm. Thus, I got a lot of neutral foundations, which wouldn't suit my skin tone. I already placed the other items up on sale
. Hopefully, I'd be able to sell all of them before I leave.
My EDM package
I renewed my passport via the Department of Foreign Affairs
' Passport Direct
service because I didn't want to go through all the trouble of waiting in line. Waiting in line is already a bad thing. Couple that with the summer heat and you'll feel like you're in a torture chamber. Anyhow, even though I availed of this service, I still had to make a personal appearance for my thumb prints and signature so I still had to go there. The good news is that everything only took about 15 minutes, as opposed to the hours that I might've spent if I went through the normal route. It could've been a lot less than that if they didn't ask me to go have my picture taken again because, apparently, the DFA might reject the picture that I submitted and I'd have to go through the whole process all over again if that happens. What I really found funny (not!) was the reason behind the possible rejection of my picture. The guys said that my picture's no good because my bangs is covering one of my eyebrows and that I have braces on! WTF was that? I mean, it's not like you wouldn't recognize me anymore just because one of my eyebrows isn't in sight! And, does having braces alter your appearance that much?! Oh well, even though I was really furious, I agreed to have my picture re-taken because I didn't want to go through the process again if my picture does get rejected. Going to the DFA is already a pain all by itself. Plus, I also have classes so I didn't really have the time to go there twice. So I paid P150 to make sure that I wouldn't be coming back. Yes, I paid P150 for 6 pictures that came out making me look like an alien. Seriously. My eyes were really dark, like lifeless dark. I look more alive in the other "rejected" photo. Oh well, no use complaining since it's all in the past. I'm only wasting energy.
I got my passport the day after I got my EDM loot. It was conveniently delivered right to our doorstep. I had to pay an additional P800 for that - a normal passport application would only cost P500 but since I availed of their Passport Direct service, I paid a total of P1,300 - but I'm not really complaining about the price because it beats: 1) waking up really early to go to the DFA, 2) waiting in line under this kind of weather and 3) going back there twice (you have to go back a second time to pick up your new passport).
The Philippines adapted the e-passport July of last year so that's what I got when I had mine renewed. That's one of the things that makes me so giddy to have my passport renewed, other than the fact that I wouldn't be able to go back home if I don't have it renewed since it'll expire less than 6 months after my date of departure.
To conclude this entry, let me just say that I love Shun Oguri
! I mean, how is it possible for a man to be that hot?! I've done some research and he's supposedly available at the moment. (Haha as if I am) Can someone give him to me as a graduation gift? Pretty please? (insert big sweet grin here to prod you to. Haha) He's my new Marcus Flutie
Since I'll be going home in a matter of weeks, I started scouting for a bag to take with me as my carry on luggage. I'm really not an avid fan of most LeSportsac
bags that are out in the market, especially the ones that you see when you go to tiangges
and the like. The only print that I liked, from those being sold in tinagges
, is the one with multi-colored stars. I don't think they have a lot of stocks of the weekender bag with this print because I rarely see it in stalls. Fortunately, I was able to buy one
from a reseller in multiply. Yeah, it's one of those fake ones. Don't blame me, though. I was intent on buying the original but a certain someone (bluesplendid
) coerced me to buy the fake one instead because she thinks that the LeSportsac bags being sold here in Manila are rather over priced. Haha I'm just exaggerating. But she did tell me to buy it when I get back home since it'd be relatively cheaper there. Come to think of it, though, I'm not even sure if I'd be able to find these bags in any of the stores in Winnipeg. Maybe in The Bay? Anyway, back to LeSportsac, since I previously intended to buy the original, I went to their site to look at the different prints available and I absolutely fell in love with the Stella McCartney collection
! The prints are so nice, fresh, and not "overdone" (unlike the previous Tokidoki collection, though I find the graphics cute, it just doesn't seem to look nice on the bags; too much print = suffocating). The Spring 2008 collection
looks really cute too! I wish their Summer collection would follow suit so I can ask somebody to
buy one for my birthday.
Here are my top picks for the Stella McCartney and Spring 2008 collections:
Veronique in Dragonfly print, from the Spring 2008 collection
Anouck in Dragonfly print, from the Spring 2008 collection
22" Carry On Case in Posh print, from the Stella McCartney collection
Large Bowling Bag in Posh print, from the Stella McCartney collection
Maybe I'll buy one before I leave if they have one of these here. Gastos nanaman!
Just had another test (Econometrics) a while ago and I must say that I feel good about it. I don't think I got a perfect score but I believe that I fared well, especially for someone who didn't study for the exam. All thanks to Veronica, who, sa ka-OC-han niya, filled her book with mini flaglettes to note where to find the different formulas and key topics. 1 exam, 2 papers, 1 more presentation and it's over. Can't wait!
Hanazakari no Kimitachi e
, better known as Hana Kimi, is about a girl (Ashiya Mizuki
, played by Horikita Maki
) from California who disguises herself as a guy to be able to enter an all boys school, Osaka High, in Japan and lift the boy (Sano Izumi
, played by Oguri Shun
) who saved her, when she was being mugged in the US, from depression because she believes that the reason why he's in such a state is because of the accident that happened when he saved her. (Whew! That was a long one)
I love this drama!!! I only watched it for 2 days because I just can't get enough of it. I could've watched it for a day if not only for the crappy internet connection that I have. Definitely one of the funniest dramas out there. Plus, there are a lot of eye candies too. Ok, so a lot
would be exaggerating but those that take center stage and hog all the air time are definitely kawaii
! :D Too bad it only has 12 episodes. I heard that they're making one last episode (special), though. I have
need to see that one!
There's also a Taiwanese version
of this drama but I opted to watch the Japanese version instead because I think that the guys in the Japanese version are hotter. Hah, I'm a female after all. ;) Plus, the girl
in the Taiwanese version isn't pretty. So superficial, huh?
The Japanese version will be airing in the Philippines this summer via GMA Network while the Taiwanese one would be shown in ABS-CBN. Talk about competition.
[EDIT: March 24, 2008]Question
: How would you know if someone is truly addicted to a drama?Answer
: If she was able to finish watching the entire season and yet bought a DVD of the season in question and is still glued to the tv at a certain hour of the day to be able to watch the said drama.
Yes, I just bought the DVD of Hanazakari no Kimitachi e a while ago and, while eating dinner, watched the same show on TV! Haha well, the latter is Tagalized so there's a difference. Excuses.

Bought the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF50+
a few days back because of the scorching summer heat. It's been really hot these past few days. I know it's summer so it's supposed to be normal; but still, the extreme weather makes me want to complain. I'm thinking that the heat would last up until
July so you (heartstoground
) better visit Canada (and ME) instead, where the weather would be divine. Anyway, going back to the sunblock, the back label reads:
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+ (PA+++) is a breakthrough in sun protection. stabilized with Helioplex, it provides superior balanced broad-spectrum protection against skin-aging UVA and burning UVB rays, and combines it with Dry Touch technology for an ultra-light, non-shiny finish. This lightweight sunblock has a light fresh scent and is gentle enough for sensitive skin.
- Waterproof, sweatproof, resists rub-off
- Non-comedogenic (won't clog pores)
- Oil free and PABA free
Its only now that I found out that having a sunblock with SPF isn't enough because that would just prevent you from getting sunburns. You should also consider getting a sunblock with a PA rating of not less than PA++ because this would protect you from the aging effects caused by the sun's rays. I was able to road test the product last Tuesday (and haven't used it since then because I'm just staying at home this holy week, doing non-school related stuff
papers and studying for tests, and I don't really put on anything when I'm just at home, just emu oil). With one day of road testing, I'd give this product 9 out of 10 stars*.
- Easy to blend
- Has a nice smell
- Love the fact that the product would be able to provide longer protection under the sun because it's sun-blocking ability has been stabilized (i.e., it doesn't degrade easily when exposed to the sun)
- Doesn't feel sticky when applied, contrary to most sunblocks
- Pretty good price (P485 for an 88ml tube)
- Can replace moisturizer
*-1 because it still made me a little bit oily even though it's supposed to control my oil glands. But, then again, it's summer so I guess my oil glands are working overtime because of the heat.
I also bought another Ellana
foundation (French Vanilla Latte) because the other one that I have (Almond Latte) doesn't suit my skin stone anymore. I finally realized that my skintone is on the yellowish/peach side rather than neutral. Rather than getting one in the glow enhancer blend (which has micro sparkles for that dewy and youthful look, you can't see it in the pictures, though) like I did before, I opted for the premium blend (provides a matte finish and is good for controlling oilies) this time. I love the look that you get using the glow enhancer blend but since it doesn't hold my oilies at bay, I'd still settle for the premium blend.

Foundies swatched: French Vanilla (left) and Almond Latte (right)
Together with the foundation, which I ordered from a reseller
, I also got the Bellafina liptint
, which is really moisturizing and nice but I don't think I'll be wearing it that much because I'm not very fond of the color. I'm waiting for Delusion
to be in stock again.
Went out with the girls again last Saturday. I was just supposed to buy a make-up remover but I ended up buying a dress as well. It's so pretty, I just couldn't resist! Kriska and Anna (anna_boom
) also liked the dress. We decided to eat at Sumo-Sam in Shangri-La for dinner. Went window shopping while waiting for the ever-late Bene to arrive. While looking around, Kriska and I kept glancing at our watches to see if it's already time to eat (we've already decided to go to Sumo-Sam at 6:00pm). At around 5:00pm, we cried in unison, "Pwede na siguro 5:30 tayo pumunta dun. Baka 30mins bago dumating orders natin eh!
" Haha. Gotta love food! We spent around P1,500 on food but that's ok because it was worth it (the ever-kuripot
Bene thinks otherwise, though).Punta Fuego daw
next Saturday! :D
Ellie, of Dreamworld
, is having a sale until the end of this month! Free international shipping! Yay! I'll definitely order and have the products shipped to our house in Canada because I'll be leaving in a few weeks.
Speaking of leaving, I've decided to sell some of my stuff
to free up space.
I'm supposed to be writing papers and studying for my exams this coming week but I don't really feel like doing any school related stuff at the moment.
Here's a funny/hilarious/amusing bordering to shameful clip from the Bb. Pilipinas Pageant. When it was held, I'm not even sure as I'm not that interested with beauty pageants anymore.
Jal came across the video from Insoymada
's site. The transcription below the clip is his.
WARNING: Make sure you're not eating or drinking anything while watching. Simula pa lang, tawa na ako ng tawa
. The walk! LOL. And the smile after saying "No, I don’t feel any pressure right now"! ROFL. Priceless. Anyway, enjoy watching it as much as I did.
My day started at 4:30 am because of a 7:00 am class. I had to stay in school for 9 and a half hours due to a 3-hour Accounting and Finance makeup class. Went straight to Shangri-La after school to meet up with the girlfriends (and a boyfriend, not mine unfortunately) for dinner. As usual, uber stress reliever with all the talk and hirit
. Made plans for this up coming summer season. Sana naman matuloy
before I leave for Canada. Shau's migrating to Canada too and will be arriving around June/July! Yay for us! We already made plans of what we're going to do once she's there, like doing this long drive to Edmonton to do some shopping (because I heard that the mall there is really big, super big that it has a swimming pool!) and even sharing an apartment together (!). I can't wait! I'm sure it'll be so much fun.
Another stress reliever of the night are the packages that I got from Suesh
! I opened the Suesh package first because it felt really big when I held it and I thought that it was the 16pc brush set
. It wasn't. But that's okay because they did give me the 5pc brush set, a kabuki brush, and a foundation brush
. It was such a generous gift considering that I got all these for free, so who am I to complain about not receiving the 16pc set. At dahil nawala ang antok at pagod ko
(yes, things such as these can have that effect on me. Haha), I also took some pictures of (and with) the brushes because the gals at Suesh asked me to send them some. I was also able to manage a small write up for them. Regarding the brushes, they are really really soft (most especially the foundation brush!). I was quite surprised because when I checked out the Suesh brushes that Arcie
was selling in her last trunkshow, they seemed really stiff.
After taking pictures of the my Suesh loot, I opened the other package to unravel my Charm brush set
. I wasn't disappointed with this one as well because they are indeed as soft as those of The Body Shop
's (like what I've read from a review somewhere) without the high price tag. The whole set even costs less than a single brush from TBS! What I like about this set, aside from the softness of the bristles, is the neat storage case
that it comes with. The case has pockets for storing the brushes and it also has a zippered pouch made for holding your makeup. I wouldn't have to bring a separate kikay kit
anymore! Another plus (or plus-ES in my case, if there's such a term, though I doubt there is) is the pink handles! They just look too cute and too girly that you just have to have them; well, at least the ever kikay
me feels that way.
So happy with my loot. Now, I just have to wait for my Everyday Minerals
package which I've been (patiently) waiting for for a little over two (2) weeks now.
More pictures:Me with the packageMe with the Suesh lootThe Charm brush set with the eyeshadow freebie
I won a brush set from Suesh
! I had to read the PM that was sent to me via my multiply account
several times before I realized that I did. I did not expect to win because I thought that you have to own a suesh brush to be able to since it says there that you have to post (through the comment box) a review about their product. But, then again, what's the point of getting a brush set that you already have? I posted a comment just for the heck of it. Not that I'm complaining about winning. I'm happy that I did. I feel so giddy. I want to try the brushes already.
We launched the 2nd issue of our Economic Development magazine today, entitled Breakonomics. Breakonomics aims to make non-economists understand that there is more to economics than the jargon of words that are attributed to the said science. It aims to point out that economics can be applied in our everyday lives. Picking up an excerpt from the magazine itself,
"The name, in particular, was coined by Dominador Lopez III. It is the marriage of two (2) words: Break and Economics. It is about 'breaking into the real world.' That is, explaining economics in layman's terms."
If you are interested in reading the article that I contributed to the magazine, please click on the links below.
